Your path

Craft your own path.

There's no single course or order that fits everyone. Pick where you're starting, build the case studies that count for the roles you want, and check your work as you go.

Step 1 · Where are you starting?

Your roadmap

About 4–5 months

Learn the process, prove it on a real app and a new one, then build one for real.

  1. Learn UX basics2–3 wk · Its final project counts too
  2. Feature in a real app4–6 wk
  3. 0→1 new product6–8 wk
  4. Vibe-code a working prototype2–3 wk
  5. Write up + feedback2 wk

About 22 weeks at most, at 8–10 hours a week alongside a job or studies. Full-time, it's about half.

Step 2 · The case studies that count

7 types. Your plan uses 3.

Each type proves a different skill. The ones in your plan come first; the rest are there when you want to go further.

    15–20%

“Counts” is roughly how much each type weighs in a hiring decision for a general product role.

Step 3 · What a good one looks like

A case study is the story of one project.

It's what a hiring manager reads to decide whether to call you. Every good one has four parts:

  1. 1The problemWho it's for, what hurts, and proof that it's real.
  2. 2Your decisionsTwo or three options you tried, and why you picked one.
  3. 3The designThe key flows, with notes, not just polished screens.
  4. 4The outcomeWhat changed, or what you'd measure. Say “hypothesis” when it's a guess.

Here's a real brief from the playbook, with what a hiring manager looks for in each part.

Razorpay Dashboard: failed-payment recovery

Design system
Razorpay Blade: blade.razorpay.com
Problem
Merchants see that a payment failed but not in a way they can act on. They cannot tell whether it was a bank issue, customer error or something they can fix, so they raise support tickets.
Evidence to find
Merchant reviews on G2 and app stores, and forum and Reddit posts about unclear failure reasons.
Feature idea
A failed-payments view grouped by reason, a plain-language explanation for each reason, and one-click actions: send a retry link, or copy a ready message for the customer.
Business lever
Cost reduction (fewer tickets) and revenue recovery. Metric: % of failed payments recovered within 24 hours.

Step 4 · Get a coach for it

Build it with a strict coach beside you.

Pick a type below and watch how the cheat sheet works in any AI chat.

The cheat sheet

A strict coach for your case study, in the AI tool you already use.

Paste it into Claude, ChatGPT or any AI tool. It plans your case study, sets deadlines and reviews your work honestly.
